Why was World War I considered the “First” modern war? List and explain the 3 reasons why.

World War 1 was the first modern war because:

1. They had new, advanced weaponry (tanks, etc) which changed warfare.

2. They fought in a completely new war environment, like trenches.

3. The war was global and the rest of history was fundamentally changed because of this war.
