Explanation:

x - y = 5

x = 5 + y -----------> (1)

3x + 2y = 15

By substituting the value of 'x' from (1)

3 (5 + y) + 2y = 15

15 + 3y + 2y = 15

3y + 2y = 15 - 15

5y = 0

y = 0/5

y = 0

So, in (1)

x = 5 + y

x = 5 + (0)

x = 5
