On a math test, students

earn 4 points for each correct answer and lose 1 point
for each incorrect answer. If there are 50 questions on
the test, a student's score is shown by the expression
4(50 - w) - w, where w is the number of wrong
answers. Chris says that the expression 5(40 - w) could
also be used. Is he correct? Why or why not? Show your work.
