What would happen if a group of cells in an organism suddenly began dividing at a higher rate?

Could this become problematic for the organism? Why?

uncontrolled cell division occurs when the checkpoints in the cell cycle no longer have an influence on the speed of division. in this case, some cells may be smaller than others are they may contain mutated dna. this can absolutely become a problem for the organism because this is how cancer occurs. in fact, every single time of cancer starts this way. this process is known as metastasis. hope this helps!
