Explanation:

we must start solving this equation by letting a variable equal the smaller number

let n = smaller number

now the larger number is consecutive so you add one to n to get it

n + 1 is the bigger number

if you add them you get 67

n + n + 1 = 67

now solve

add like terms

2n + 1 = 67

subtract 1 from both sides

2n = 66

n = 33

the smaller number is 33

adding one to that will get you the larger integer

33 + 1 = 34

that is the larger integer
