X = 4 because you combine like terms, subtract 3 from both sides, divide both sides by 2, use the definition as the absolute value, add 4 to both sides, divide both sides by seven. This comes out to X=4

Answer: x = 4 or x = -20/7.

step 1: Add -3 to both sides.

2( |7x−4|)+ 3 + −3=51+ −3

2(|7x−4|)= 48

Step 2: Divide both sides by 2.

2(|7x−4|)/2= 48/2

|7x−4|=24

Step 3: Solve Absolute Value.
We know either 7x−4=24 or 7x−4= −24
7x−4 = 24 (Possibility 1)
7x−4+4=24+4 (Add 4 to both sides)
7x=28
7x/7=28/7 (Divide both sides by 7)

7x−4=−24 (Possibility 2)
7x−4 + 4= −24 + 4 (Add 4 to both sides)
7x=−20
7x/7= −20/7 (Divide both sides by 7)
x=−20/7
