to get the slope of any straight line, we simply need two points off of it, wait a minute!!!! holy smokes!! the graph already has two points for us, yeahhh, let's use those then

(\stackrel{x_1}{5}~,~\stackrel{y_1}{0})\qquad (\stackrel{x_2}{0}~,~\stackrel{y_2}{-7}) ~\hfill \stackrel{slope}{m}\implies \cfrac{\stackrel{rise} {\stackrel{y_2}{-7}-\stackrel{y1}{0}}}{\underset{run} {\underset{x_2}{0}-\underset{x_1}{5}}} \implies \cfrac{ -7 }{ -5 } \implies {\Large \begin{array}{llll} \cfrac{7 }{ 5 } \end{array}}
