The length of a rectangle is 3 yd longer than its width.

If the perimeter of the rectangle is 50 yd, find its length and width.

Length is 14 yd width is 11 yd

Explanation:

The equation to find the perimeter is ( 2 x Length ) + ( 2 x Width ), so first you divide the perimeter by 2 so we only have to add length + width, you get 25 yds. Since the length is 3 yds longer than width, you can mentally assume Length is going to be 14 yds and width is 11 yd, since Length is 3 yd longer, and finally if you add them together, 14 + 11 = 25. (Apologies if you don't understand I'm not good at explaining)
