Answer:

x = -2.25

Explanation:

To solve this we want to put the x alone on one side

Then by subtracting 6x from both sides

2x - 5 - 6x = 6x + 4 - 6x

- 4x - 5 =4

add 5 for both sides

- 4x - 5 + 5 = 4 + 5

- 4x = 9

Divide both sides by - 4

Then x = 9 / -4 = -2.25

So you only forget the negative sign

Answer: x= - 9/4 or -2.25

Explanation:

2x - 5 = 6x + 4(subtract 4 from the right side to move to the left side and subtract 2x from left side to move to right side)

-4 - 5 = 6x - 2x (now subtract these numbers as they have the same components)

-9 = 4x (divide by 4 to get X alone)

-9/4 = x
