A carpenter needs 8.5 feet of rope for a project. How much will the carpenter spend if the rope costs $4.57 per foot?

Answer: The carpenter will spend $38.84

Explanation:

8.5 feet of rope and the rope costs 4.57 per foot

8.5x4.57=38.845

Since half a cent does not exist we can get rid of the 5 at the end

Therefore the carpenter will have to spend $38.84

Unless you want to round it up, then it will be $38.85
