Answer: 61 miles per hour.

Explanation:

The median is the number that's placed in the middle when the given numbers are either arranged in the ascending it the descending order.

In this case we are already given the speed of the cars as 65, 66, 63, 56, 56 50, 85, 61, 73, 81. We will therefore arrange them in ascending order and this will be:

50, 56, 56, 61, 63, 65, 66, 73, 81, 85.

To change the median speed of

the cars to 63 miles per hour, the 6th number when arranged in ascending order has to be 63. Therefore, in thus case, we will need a speed lessee than 63 miles pee hour. Therefore, option D is the answer.

When we re-arrange with the new speed included. This will be:

50, 56, 56, 61, 63, 63, 65, 66, 73, 81, 85.

Therefore, we can see that the median is 63.
