5p = 2p + 21 + 45

5p = 2p + 66 ( subtract 2p from both sides )

3p = 66 ( divide both sides by 3 )

p = 22

then

5p = 5 × 22 = 110

5p and (x + 13) are a linear pair and sum to 180° , that is

5p + x + 13 = 180 , so

110 + x + 13 = 180

x + 123 = 180 ( subtract 123 from both sides )

x = 57
