Explanation:

17 + 8 = 25

25 ÷ 2 is for one triangle.

25 ÷ 2 = 12.5

12.5 x 4 = 50

(4, because there are 4 triangles)

Then, 8 x 8 is for the middle square, which is 64

64 + 50 = 114

So, The surface area is 114
