Answer:

x = 20

y = 62

Explanation:

Angles on a straight line sum to 180°:

⇒ (6x - 2)° + (3x + 2)° = 180°

⇒ 6x - 2 + 3x + 2 = 180

⇒ 6x + 3x - 2 + 2 = 180

⇒ 9x = 180

⇒ 9x ÷ 9 = 180 ÷ 9

⇒ x = 20

Vertical Angles Theorem

When two straight lines intersect, the opposite vertical angles are congruent.

⇒ y° = (3x + 2)°

⇒ y = 3x + 2

⇒ y = 3(20) + 2

⇒ y = 60 + 2

⇒ y = 62
