price of the clock = x axis = x coordinate

Commision = y axis = y coordinate

Since he earns $3 for a $30 clock, the coordinate point is (30,3)

he also earns $5 for a $50 clock, (50,5)

Locate the coordinate points and join them with a straigth line

Since it is a straight line, both coordinates have a proportional relationship.
