Write an equation parallel to the given line through the given point. parallel to

y = 4x - 6, through (6,-3)

step 1

Find the slope of the given line

y=4x-6 ------> equation of the line in slope intercept form

y=mx+b

we have

m=4

b=-6

therefore

the slope is 4

Remember that, if two lines are parallel, then their slopes are equal

that means

the slope of the parallel line is m=4

step 2

Find the equation of the parallel line in lsope intercept form

y=mx+b

we have

m=4

point (6,-3)

substitute in the equation above

-3=4(6)+b

solve for b

-3=24+b

b=-27

therefore

the equation of the line is

y=4x-27
