Given the equation:

(x)/(5)+7=16

Subtract 7 from both sides

\begin{gathered} (x)/(5)+7-7=16-7 \\ (x)/(5)=9 \end{gathered}

Multiply both sides by 5

\begin{gathered} 5\cdot(x)/(5)=5\cdot9 \\ x=45 \end{gathered}
