The stormboli volcano, in Italy, began erupting in 2002 after a doormat period of 17 years. In 2007, a volcanologist measures the lava flow to be moving at 5 meters/second. If the path of the lava flows to the sea is 580 meters long. How long does it take the lava to reach the sea ?

Given:

Speed of volcano is 5 meter/second.

Distance of the lava flows to the sea is 580 meters.

To find the time to taken by lava to reach the sea,

\begin{gathered} \text{Speed}=\frac{dis\tan ce}{\text{time}} \\ \text{time}=\frac{dis\tan ce}{\text{speed}} \\ =(580)/(5) \\ =116\text{ s} \end{gathered}

Answer: it will take 116 seconds for lava to reach the sea.
