If the school sells z child tickets and y adult tickets, then the equation3x + 5y = 500 expresses the fact that the school raised exactly $500 from ticket sales.Solve this equation for x. money = $500

C = $3 z

A = $5 y

Equation 3x + 5y = 500

Solve for x

3x = 500 - 5y

x = (500 - 5y) / 3

It's helpful this equation when we need to calculate the number of children that paid the ticket.
