Oscar measured a theater and made a scale drawing. He used the scale 3 inches : 2 feet. Ifthe stage is 42 inches wide in the drawing, how wide is the actual stage?

So, the scale is 3in : 2ft. This is the proportion we're gonna use to calculate the real size of the scale.

With a simple cross product:

3in ----- 2ft

42in ---------x

3x=84

x=28ft

The actual stage is 28 ft wide.
