Concept

The figure is a parallelogram.

Theorem:

The diagonals NL and MK of a parallelogram bisect each other, meaning the line divide each other into two equal part.

That is, ME = KE and NE = LE

Next,

Given data

ME = 2x - 10

Ek = 1 + x

Since ME = EK

Therefore,

2x - 10 = 1 + x

collect like terms and add similar terms.

2x - x = 1 + 10

x = 11

Final solution

MK = ME + EK

MK = 2x - 10 + 1 + x

MK = 3x - 9

MK = 3(11) - 9

MK = 33 - 9

MK = 24

MK = 24
