We have got a transversal line here in this question so that means that the following must be true.


\begin{gathered} (7y-23)=(23x-16) \\ (8x-21)=180-(7y-23)=-7y+203 \end{gathered}

We have two equations and two unknowns in our hands.


\begin{gathered} 7y-23x=7 \\ 7y+8x=224 \end{gathered}

Subtracting the first equation from the second gives us.


21x=217\Rightarrow x=(217)/(21)=(31)/(3)

We have x now y can easily be found.


7y+8((31)/(3))=224\Rightarrow7y+(248)/(3)=224\Rightarrow7y=224-(248)/(3)=(424)/(3)\Rightarrow y=(424)/(21)

There you have it! this is the answer.
