3 Your grandmother gives you $1000 to start a college book fund. She tells you she will add $200to the fund each month, if you will add $5 each month. After how many months will the college bookfund have $5715?

EXPLANATION.

First we must analyze the data that the exercise gives us, to start the grandmother actually gives 5 per month but gave an initial of 1000,

in the end you have 5715.

What we must do is subtract 5715 from the 1000, then the result is divided by 5 and gives us the total number of months.

The exercise is as follows:


\begin{gathered} 5715-100=4715 \\ \text{Now 4715 is divided by 5;} \\ 4715\text{ /5}=943 \\ \text{the answer is 943 months} \end{gathered}

It takes 943 months to complete what remains for the fund.
