How do I do this properly (in reference to the attached image)? I'm rather lost on what exactly what I'm supposed to do.

SOLUTION

We want to write

√(36)

as a prodouct of two square roots of perfect square

36 can be written as

\begin{gathered} 36=2*2*3*3 \\ =(2*2)*(3*3) \\ =4*9 \end{gathered}

Also 4 and 9 are perfect square because

\begin{gathered} √(4)=2 \\ √(9)=3 \\ since\text{ 2 and 3 are both whole numbers } \\ so\text{ } \\ √(36)=√(4)*√(9) \end{gathered}

Hence the answer is

√(4)*√(9)
