If AB =4x+1 and AC=5x+20, find the length of BC

Given:

AB = 4x + 1

AC = 5x + 20

And we have:


AC=AB+BC

Substitute the values:


5x+20=4x+1+BC

And solve for BC:


5x+20-4x-1=4x+1+BC-4x-1

Add like terms:


x+19=BC

Answer: BC = x + 19
