The tradicional mining techniques can have a severe impact on the environment, like the open pit and underground methods, that are popular but also harmful to the mining area. Some of the low-impact mining technicles that can replace those are: in-situ leaching, reduce of the surface used in the mining sites, and reduce the material that will need to be backfilled. Lowering the soil interference by the miners is a way to reduce the environmental impact and work for the site rehabilitation after the end of the mining process. These technicles have low financial impact, being ever less expensives than the old way of mining, both during and after the mining.
