We want to find the ratio of the IC 1101 galaxy diameter (Dic) to the milky Way diameter (Dmw), we can do it like this:


\frac{Dic}{\text{Dmw}}=(5*10^(22))/(1*10^(21))

And from the exponent property:


(a^b)/(a^c)=a^(b-c)

Then:


\frac{Dic}{\text{Dmw}}=(5*10^(22))/(1*10^(21))=5*(10^(22))/(10^(21))=5*10^(22-21)=5*10^1=5*10=50

Then, the diameter of the galaxy IC 1101 is 50 times the diameter of the milky way
