You have to solve the calculation

-12+8-(-9)

Since all operations are adding or subtracting, they are in the same place in the order of operations. What you have to do is start from left to right, first add "-12" and "8"

\begin{gathered} -12+8-(-9) \\ -4-(-9) \end{gathered}

Next is to subtract "-9", in this situation we find a double negative, when two minus signs are one after the other, they cancel each other turning into a plus sign:

\begin{gathered} -4-(-9) \\ -4+9 \end{gathered}

So you have to add -4 and 9

-4+9=5

The result of this calculation is 5.
