The lenght of AB is 7.987

To solve this, we have the lenght of the hypotenuse, an angle, and we want to find the lenght of the leg adjacent ot the angle. The trigonometric relationship that relates those 3 things is cosine.


\cos (\theta)=\frac{\text{adjacent side}}{hypotenuse}

THen for angle = 20º and hypotenuse = 8.5:


\begin{gathered} \cos (20º)=(x)/(8.5) \\ x=8.5\cdot\cos (20º) \\ x\approx7.987 \end{gathered}
