The formula to calculate the distance between two points in the cartesian plane is the following:


\begin{gathered} d=√(\left(x_2-x_1\right)^2+\left(y_2-y_1\right)^2) \\ \end{gathered}

replacing:


\begin{gathered} d=√(\left(2-(-5)\right)^2+\left(6-4\right)^2) \\ d=√(\left(7\right)^2+\left(2\right)^2) \\ d=√(49+4) \\ d=√(63) \\ d=7.94 \end{gathered}

The distance between the two points is 7.94 units
