Both earth and human homeostasis rely in cyclic process to regulate their physiology. Optimal production and intake of several elements (for the earth) and nutrients (for the human body) are needed to keep physiological balance. For example, excess of Carbon dioxide in the atmosphere, as a byproduct of industrial activities, is altering Earth's planetary process, such as wind strength, marine currents speed and primary productivity. In a similar fashion, excess of nutrients in the human body causes distinct responses to try to cope with the excess. For example, when we eat a lot of sugar, more insulin is released and the mechanisms to store sugar as glycogen are activated.
