Given the function:

f\mleft(x\mright)=x^3+7x^2-16x+18

We will use synthetic division to check if (x-9) is a factor for the function

So,

\begin{gathered} 9|1;7;-16;18 \\ \text{ ;9;144;1152} \\ ========== \\ \text{ 1;16;128;1170} \end{gathered}

As shown the remainder is not zero

So, the answer will be (x - 9) is not a factor

Note: ( x + 9 ) is a factor for the given function
