Solution

Initially, the population of a certain species of bird is 18, 000

If it increases at a rate of 9% per year,

here the rate of increase is 0.09

\begin{gathered} y=18000(1+0.09)^t \\ \\ \Rightarrow y=18,000(1.09)^t \end{gathered}

we are to find the population after 14 years,

when t = 14

y=18000(1.09)^(14)=60151.08649

Therefore, the population of the birds is about 60151
