1.What does it mean for an acid or base to be strong?

Strong acids and bases are 100% ionized in an aqueous solution.

Weak acids and bases are less than 100% ionized in an aqueous solution.

e.g.

Strong acid:

HCl (aq) ===> H+ + Cl- 100% ionized.

Strong Base:

NaOH (aq) ===> Na+ + OH-

These are some of strong acids and bases.
