To subtract both polinomials you have to perform the operations only between the like terms:

-6x^3+5x-3

minus

2x^3+4x^2-3x+1

The first equation doesn't have a "x²" term so I'll write 0x² to complete the equation:

The result is -8x³ -4x² +8x -7

( - 6x^3 + 5x - 3 ) - ( 2x^3 + 4x^2 - 3x + 1)-example-1
