Since 2 cm on the map represents 1 km in real

Then to find real distance which represented by 8 cm we will use the cross multiplication

(2)/(1)=(8)/(x)

X represents the real distance

\begin{gathered} 2* x=1*8 \\ 2x=8 \end{gathered}

Divide both sides by 2 to find x

\begin{gathered} (2x)/(2)=(8)/(2) \\ x=4 \end{gathered}

Then the 8 cm on the map represents 4 km in the real
