James and John, working together, can paint a room in 5 hours. If Jude helps James and John paint the room, the three of them can paint the room in 4 hours. What amount of time (in hours) would it take James, working alone, to paint the room?*

To solve this problem we have to use inverse proportionality.

2 people can paint the room in 5 hours, 3 can paint it in 4 hours.

x=(2\cdot5)/(1)=10

It will take 10 hours for James to paint the room
