Land-use by definition are the activities carried out in a certain extension of land, hence the close relationship with deforestation. When wild land or preserved areas are subjected to land-use change we have that the previous cover (plant cover, forests, bushes, and grasslands) is modified, or has it happens in many cases, completely erased, like massive clearings, which leads to deforestation and fragmentation of natural habitats.
