Given:

The price of the meal before tax = $65

The sales tax = 5.8% = 0.058

Tip = 18% = 0.18

Note: The tip based on the pretax amount

so, Tip = 18% of 65 =

0.18\cdot65=11.7

The sales tax = 5.8% of 65 =

\text{0}.058\cdot65=3.77

so, the total cost =

65+3.77+11.7=80.47

so, the answer is:

The amount of the tip that Lewis gave the driver was $11.7, and the total cost of the meal including tax and tip was $80.47
