The sum of the n terms of the geometric sequence can be solved using the equation

S_n=a_1(1-r^n)/(1-r)

The values of a1 and r are already provided on the problem. We just substitute it on the equation above and compute for the sum of the geometric equation for n = 5. We have

S_n=(972)\frac{1-(-(1)/(3))^5}{1-(-(1)/(3))_{}}=732

The answer is 732.
