\begin{gathered} \text{the equation of a parallel line to } \\ y=(2)/(3)x+6 \\ \\ \text{has the shape} \\ y=(2)/(3)x+b,\text{ so we only have to find b. (remember that parallel lines ALWAYS have the same slope).} \\ \\ \text{ Since the line passes through (-3,6),} \\ 6=(2)/(3)(-3)+b \\ 6=-2+b \\ b=6+2 \\ b=8 \\ \\ \text{Thus, the equation of the parallel is} \\ y=(2)/(3)x+8 \end{gathered}
