Given, base of the right angled triangle, b=40.

The altitude of the right angled triangle, h=9.

The hypotenuse of the right angled triangle can be calculated using Pythagoras theorem as,


\begin{gathered} c=\sqrt[]{b^2+h^2} \\ c=\sqrt[]{40^2+9^2} \\ c=\sqrt[]{1600+81} \\ c=\sqrt[]{1681} \\ c=41 \end{gathered}

Therefore, the the missing side (hypotenuse) of the triangle
