Billy Bob is selling custom t-shirt for $18 per shirt plus $21.50 for shipping .

Sammy Sam is selling custom t-shirt for $22 per shirt plus $5.50 for shipping .

Let

x = number of shirt sold

\begin{gathered} 18x+21.50=22x+5.50 \\ \text{collect like terms} \\ 18x-22x=5.50-21.50 \\ -4x=-16 \\ \text{divide both sides by -4} \\ (-4x)/(-4)=(-16)/(-4) \\ x=4 \end{gathered}

For both of them to earn the same amount of money both of them will have to sell 4 shirt each.
