1) Let's find that out by setting a proportion.

4 5/6 hours

60 miles per hour

miles (distance) -----------------time elapsed

x 4 5/6 h

60 1

2) Let's turn that mixed number into an improper fraction to easily deal with it

4(5)/(6)=(6\cdot4+5)/(6)=(29)/(6)

Setting the proportion:

\begin{gathered} (x)/(60)=((29)/(6))/(1) \\ (x)/(60)=(29)/(6) \\ 6x\text{ = 29}\cdot60 \\ x=290 \end{gathered}

3) So Socorro traveled 290 miles
