Enzymes require certain conditions to be able to convert the substrates into products. Some of these conditions are related to the environment where the enzyme is found (such as pH or temperature), but others are related to the enzyme itself, such as their folding or the amino acids that form them.

In the case of most cases of PKU, PAH gene has a mutation that produces an enzyme that is not as effective when turning the phenylalanine into tyrosine.

With this information, we can say that:

A) is false because it says that no amount of tyrosine is produced.

B) is false because it says there is no affectation of the PAH

C) is true because it says that the mutated enzyme can't convert as effectively, but there is some production of tyrosin

D) is false because it says that no tyrosine is produced.
