in the diagram shown below line A and line B are parallel lines cut by transversal line c. which equation could be used to solve for the value of x.

1) Since those lines A and B are parallel and line C is a transversal one then we can state that the angles

∠2x + 20 and ∠4x +40 are supplementary and consecutive interior angles.

2) So we can write out the following equation to find out the value of x:

2x +20 +4x +40 = 180

6x + 60 = 180

6x = 180-60

6x = 120

x=20

3) Hence, the aswer is 2x +20 +4x +40 = 180
