\begin{gathered} 2x-2y=-8_{\text{ }}(1) \\ 2x+2y=4_{\text{ }}(2) \end{gathered}

Using elimination method:


\begin{gathered} (1)+(2) \\ 2x+2x-2y+2y=-8+4 \\ 4x=-4 \\ x=(-4)/(4)=-1 \end{gathered}

Replace the value of x into (2):


\begin{gathered} 2(-1)+2y=4 \\ -2+2y=4 \\ 2y=4+2 \\ 2y=6 \\ y=(6)/(2) \\ y=3 \end{gathered}
