Explanation:

3.

$950 per week, 20 hours per week.

the hourly rate means "how much she gets per hour worked ?".

so, 950/20 = 95/2 = $47.50 per hour

4a.

between 3pm and 11pm are 11-3=8 work hours.

5 days a week.

for hours between 6pm and 9am there is a shift premium.

so, from 3pm to 6pm he is being paid normally (6-3=3 hours).

from 6pm to 11pm he is getting an additional shift premium (11-6=5 hours).

so he is being paid a shift premium for 5 hours per daily shift. and 5×5=25 hours per week.

b.

hourly rate = $16.50.

hourly rate incl. shift premium : $16.50+$2.00 = $18.50

his weekly gross pay is therefore

3×5×16.5 + 5×5×18.5 = 15×16.5 + 25×18.5 = $710.00

c.

5 out of 8 work hours are at the shift premium rate.

100% = 8

1% = 100%/100 = 8/100 = 0.08

how many % are 5 hours ? we need to divide 5 by 1% :

5 / 1% = 5/0.08 = 62.5%
