Given any two points (x1, y1) and (x2, y2), the coordinate of the midpoint, (xm, ym) is given by

x_m=(x_(1+)x_2)/(2)
y_m=(y_(1+)y_2)/(2)

In this case,

x1 = -1, y1=2

x2=7, y2=3

Therefore

x_m=\frac{-1+7_{}}{2}=(6)/(2)=3
y_m=\frac{3+2_{}}{2}=(5)/(2)=2(1)/(2)
\text{Hence the midpoint is (3, 2}(1)/(2))
