Linear equation is a equation in which the degree of variable is always one,

for example :

\begin{gathered} x+y=6 \\ \text{here the degre}e\text{ (exponent value ) of the variables x and y is 1} \end{gathered}

In cas exponential equation , the variables or any numerical value have degree of variable or you can say that the degree of the equation having variable

for example

\begin{gathered} y=a^x \\ \text{here the degr}e\text{ (exponent value ) of 'a' is a variable i.e x} \\ \text{where 'a' can be variable or constant} \end{gathered}
